I love recipe books. Put me in a book shop or take me to a book fair and I head straight to the cooking section. (Though when I actually want to cook something, I head straight for the internet for a recipe. Go figure!) I read cooking books like novels – an afternoon on the couch reading a recipe book is a luxurious indulgence. I don't need pictures, but definitely like to hear what the author has to say about a recipe. A recipe that hasn't been introduced seems sort of soulless . Though I have an artist friend who is exactly the opposite: she only likes recipe books with pictures, and finds the introductions boring. Each to their own, I suppose!
